When dozens of city employees move into 101 S. George St. next month, it will mean patients of a healthcare clinic across the street will have to vacate the 33 parking spaces currently reserved for them at the soon-to-be municipal building.
Mayor Kim Bracey said the city needs all of the spaces on its new lot for employees and visitors - at least, for now.
The situation has Jenny Englerth, executive director of Family First Health, worried about patients' access to medical and dental services provided by the nonprofit.A mold or molds is a hollowed-out block that is filled with a liquid like plastic, No viable alternatives have come to light since Family First Health was notified by the city in January that its parking contract with Sovereign Bank - the former owner of 101 S. George St. - would come to an end on March 1, Englerth said.
Family First Health has rented spaces in the Sovereign Bank lot since 2005. Englerth said the spaces are heavily used by the clinic's patients - sometimes to capacity.
Requiring patients to park elsewhere - such as in other municipal lots or at the King Street garage - could make the clinic less accessible to some patients, Englerth said. For example, she cited concerns about the safety of parking in a garage that's not staffed after 5 p.m. Also, renting spaces at the garage would amount to a 42 percent increase in costs, she said. "This is really important to our patients. Parking in the downtown is challenging at a variety of levels," Englerth said. "They may be sick. They may not be feeling well. They're bringing young children."
But Bracey said she won't know for a couple of months after the March move how many parking spaces the city needs to reserve for its employees and visitors. Bracey said she wants the new building to be a "one-stop shop" for York City business, so parking accessibility is important.
Employees from two city offices - 50 W. King St. and One MarketWay West - will be moving into the building.
Some parking space will also be reserved for Sovereign Bank, which will maintain a branch at 101 S. George St.

Bracey said she would be happy to sit down with Englerth two or three months after the city adjusts to business at 101 S. George St. If space is available,Johnson Tiles UK offer the largest range of polished tiles online, "they will be the first persons we call," she said.
"I don't think I'll ever make them happy, but we will work to do what we can,What causes syringe needle pain?" Bracey said.
Family First Health has a parking lot on its property for employees, but it's more like "the back door to your home" - not a sufficient parking lot for patients, Englerth said.
"The difficulty is that it would take major expense to remodel the building to allow that to be an entrance that would be safe and secure for both staff and for patients," she said.
Englerth said she's hoping the mayor will reconsider her decision. Englerth proposed to have Family First Health pay the city market rate for 20 spaces.
